Endicott Students Raise Funds for Campus Sgt Killed in Thanksgiving Crash
Even during Thanksgiving break, the students of Endicott College have shown remarkable kindness by coming forward to assist Jeremy Cole's family. The 49-year-old Endicott College Police sergeant lost his life early on Thanksgiving morning when a wrong-way driver heading south on I-95 in Newbury struck his vehicle. Police pronounced Cole dead at the scene. The driver, a 40-year-old man from southeastern Massachusetts, was rushed to a nearby hospital with serious injuries and is expected to face charges at a later date.

Student Reactions and Memories

Students were deeply shocked to receive the news during this holiday. Ben Fridlington, an Endicott College student, recounted, "When I first saw it, I couldn't believe it was real. His absence will always be felt on campus." Deanna Federico, another senior at Endicott College, added, "I was so shocked that I dropped my phone and began to cry. He was an active member of the community and a familiar face across campus." Federico is a student officer and worked shifts with Cole. She explained, "His voice was so loud and booming that you could always tell when he was in a room."

GoFundMe Initiative

Fridlington, who is from NH, decided to start a GoFundMe for Cole's family. He said, "Initially, it was shared among our friend group, but then it started spreading beyond that and reached the entire school. From there, it grew rapidly and has now reached nearly ,000." The GoFundMe (Fundraiser for Laura Cole by Benjamin Fridlington : Support for the Family of Jeremy Cole after Tragic Loss) is providing much-needed financial support to the family during this difficult time.
